A forget me not charm is one of the most touching flowers you can give. It stands for remembrance, faithful love and staying in someone's heart.

Remembrance and lasting love: The forget me not has meant true love and remembrance for centuries. Its very name is a request, to be kept in someone's thoughts and never forgotten. That makes it a comforting flower to give in memory of a loved one, and a heartfelt token between people parted by distance, or those with a loved one with alzheimers or dementia.

A medieval legend: The name comes from a German legend of the age of knights. Walking beside a river with his love, a knight bent to gather the little blue flowers, but his armour dragged him into the current. As he was swept away he threw the posy to her and called out vergiss mein nicht, forget me not. The phrase spread across German-speaking Europe and reached English by the 1530s.

Why the flower fits: The forget me not is tiny and easily missed, an uncommon true blue, and blooms only briefly each spring. All of that made it feel like the perfect emblem of something precious and fleeting, worth holding onto.
