A sunflower charm is pure warmth and optimism. It stands for adoration, loyalty and the pursuit of happiness.

Turning to the light: The sunflower is famous for heliotropism: young flower buds face east at dawn and follow the sun across the sky through the day. That daily habit of turning toward the light gave the sunflower its meaning of positivity, hope and always looking on the bright side.

Adoration and loyalty: Because it seems to gaze so faithfully at the sun, the sunflower became a symbol of loyal adoration, devotion that stays steady even when little is given back. It is a flower for the people who love hardest and most loyally.

The myth of Clytie: In Greek mythology the water nymph Clytie fell in love with Helios, god of the sun. When he left her, she watched his chariot cross the sky for nine days until the gods took pity and turned her into a flower rooted to the ground yet forever facing the sun. The tale gave the sunflower its lasting link with faithful, hopeful love.

What the sunflower charm represents

Worn on a bracelet or necklace, the sunflower charm celebrates a sunny, positive person, honours loyal love, or sends a little cheer to someone who needs it.

Who the sunflower charm suits

It makes a joyful gift for an optimist, a devoted friend or partner, a summer or late-August birthday (the sunflower is the primary birth flower for August) , or anyone quietly going through a grey patch and in need of some brightness. It is a natural pick-me-up.

The design behind the sunflower charm

The Lily Charmed sunflower charm is plated in warm 18ct gold over recycled sterling silver, so its ray of petals glows against the wrist. The golden finish suits the flower perfectly. Either version of the sunflower slides onto Pandora bracelets and clips onto most charm carriers.
